• (1) The phytoplankton that brought Earth to life. Review the video (Johnson, 2014) about the "phytoplanktonthat brought Earth to life" from the link given below, or from the link in the Instructor's Insights area. This clip is under 5 minutes in length. In this video, Penny Chisholm discusses her interest in a tiny phytoplankton called Prochlorococcus. Explain why she says that the ancestor of Prochlorococcus "brought Earth to life" and why it is still important today. In addition, please explain how this topic relates to this week's lesson.
• (2) Characteristics of ATP. From the instructor's video about ATP (Cox, 2015), found in the Instructor's Insight area, describe one or more characteristics of ATP that are important for it's function in the cell. Explain.
  
• (3) Muscle Biopsy for Science. Read the article by Edwards (2007). What is the main point of the article? How does it relate to this week’s lesson about energy and metabolism? Based on the video of the muscle biopsy (BBC, 2010), would you participate in a research study where you would be required to give a muscle biopsy?
