CT 7002 Assignment 3
For this task, you will prepare an annotated bibliography, including one peer-reviewed article regarding each theorist, for a total of eight entries. The theorists are listed below:
- Franklin Bobbitt
- Boyd Bode
- John Dewey
- Robert Hutchins
- William H. Kilpatrick
- Jean Piaget
- B. F. Skinner
- Ralph Tyler
For each annotation, elaborate on the significance of each theory on current curriculum practice. Each annotation should be no longer than one page. Use these additional resources discovered through the Northcentral Library as the basis for your annotations. Include the APA formatted reference at the beginning of each annotation.
Annotated bibliographies should only involve peer-reviewed research, not textbook authors or commentaries. Annotated bibliographies are primarily used to help the researcher clearly summarize previously related research for the purposes of: 1) developing a deeper understanding of the related research findings, 2) helping to better identify a gap in the related research in need of study, and 3) creating a clear topic in need of research. To accomplish this, your annotated bibliographies must be concisely and logically developed. Please follow these guidelines in this order: 1) Provide a clear and concise description of the purpose of the research, 2) the importance of conducting it, 3) the overall scope of the study, 4) a brief overview of the methodology (participants, how the data were conducted and analyzed), 5) the results (as well as comparisons with similar studies if possible), and 6) the implications for further study. Be sure to keep it brief, yet informative because these annotated bibliographies will be helpful when developing your actual literature review for your dissertation. Keep this list of annotated bibliographies accessible, and then add to it as you progress through the program. Finally, always refer to the authors/researchers by providing their names in full APA format as well as utilize verbs in past tense after their names (e.g., Novotny (2015) noted, found, determined, stated, revealed, indicated, listed, claimed, included, specified, believed, argued, reported, clarified, etc.). Never state the article, study, researchers, authors found, or state that the article went on to say such and such. Most of your reference citations should be in parenthetical form – (Novotny, 2015). This keeps the focus on the contents of the research, not on individual researchers. Also, be careful to avoid phrases ending in a preposition such as pointed out, looked at, sought out, etc.
Length: 6-8 pages
References: Minimum of eight scholarly resources
Your response should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
